I live in Dublin but travel to Wexford for my holidays often and myself and my husband always make an effort to go to cistin eile when there ( even though we holiday about 30/40mins away). Proud of its modern Irishness, this restaurant run by talented young chef Warren Gillen takes the produce of local farmers and applies a simple but stunning brand of culinary magic. I'm being picky now, but the desserts were not in the same league as the starters and mains.
Then a selection exclusively from the Old World – Spain, Italy and France. The food is amazing. All is revealed in the eating. This came with creamed cabbage and a smoked bacon and onion relish. After a little negotiation, I got the duck and Pat got the black- and-white pudding. A transformation has happened in Wexford town since 2009. Mains of Haddock & Supreme of Chicken were again well portioned. The €39 menu had great options and the food was both well presented and delicious. We took our time eating a great three course meal.
If healthy eating is your thing it really doesn't get much better ... Cistin Eile wears its Irishness proudly. Wife had informed when booking that she was allergic to dhell fish & waiter was very well informed & attentive. Prime 74 Restaurant is the latest exciting addition to bustling Tipperary Town. Highly recommend!

I can't remember when I last saw house wines priced at €15, a Chablis for €27 or a good Albariño for well under €30.
All in all if you’re eating out in County Wexford, you have to try Cistin Eile!!More.
It was much smoother than is usually the case, more like a French boudin.
