Thanks for that insider tip; as I dont plan to ride at night, Winter seems to be the best time for BVRT. The Alexandra Hotel makes really great hamburger and chips. My third ride on the Great Victorian Rail Trail was from Cathkin to Mansfield.

It may be helpful to know that every kilometre there is a GVRT signpost with an emergency phone number and a location code; a great idea given the Trail’s isolation.
