Every single button on the controller is put to use, which can be a little daunting at first, but once you become familiar with the layout, it becomes fairly clear that any further simplification of the controls would hurt the overall experience. This is a difficult review for me. I am glad these games are back, as there is a lot of joy to be had in these D&D based RPG’s which both newer and old RPG fans can enjoy. Though there are a few minor differences in the way certain functions are mapped, the Xbox and PlayStation 2 controllers handle the action in Dark Alliance II with an equal level of proficiency. Do not fund companies like this, set fire to your money instead, it will bring you more joy. The options for melee weapons have been expanded a bit since the first game. Carrying out quests and slaughtering monsters will earn you experience points, which you can periodically spend on different character attributes and abilities. Okay my review of this pre-order, yes I bought this with the hopes that it was a co-op style game as it was on the PC, boy was I wrong, bought two with this anticipation where there was no mention of this during the pre-order.

If you don't care about playing through both games with a party of friends (who has those anyway) you get exactly what you paid for. And, in a nice little touch, the voices of certain characters will begin to change as their experience level increases. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II will surely satisfy players looking for a well-crafted, accessible action RPG experience.
